Robot Competitions

Robot competitions are fascinating events which attract students all over the world to take part in building robotic solutions for a give problem. Robot competitions are classified according to their location and periphery (national vs. international), age of participants, fixed mission versus changing missions, standard robots versus custom built robots, etc.

Well known international competitions:
  • RoboGames - hosting dozens of competitions, e.g. football, somo, maze solving, etc.
  • FIRST - custom built robots for solving a given mission. The FIRST organization provides materials and tools for teams all over the world for building a robot for the given mission. The winners of national competitions go the international competition in the USA.
  • RoboCup - human like robots playing soccer.
  • Fire-Fighting - locating fire source in a given area and extinguish it.
  • RobotTraffic - robots are moving along lines on pads representing roads, where they should obey traffic lights, avoid hitting obstacles, etc. This competition takes place in the Technion, Israel.
